What's different about these products?
The Good Riddance range of products was developed in Darwin and tested in Kakadu.
They are natural products and are completely DEET-free*.
The products use a blend of essential oils to which are well known for their effectiveness at repelling midgies, sandflies and mosquitoes. However, because they have not been registered with the APVMA we cannot advertise them as repellents - depsite the fact that they use two essential oils that are in another natural product which has been registered with the APVMA.
It is commendable that the APVMA is endeavouring to protect the Australian public from unscrupulous operators and ineffective or dangerous products but it is, we believe, unnecessary for these products which contain essential oils that have been used for insect repelling purposes for centuries - and which are used in other registered products.
In any event, before you purchase any product (natural or otherwise) search online, ask in forums, look on camping, caravanning and parenting sites and see what others have to say about the product. Then make up your own mind.
